Table language and app language differ
Boot, chaal and sideshow are game terms. Package, version and signing certificate describe software identity.
Table and hand terms
- Boot / ante
- The agreed starting contribution to a traditional deal. Practice examples here use valueless counters.
- Blind
- Playing before looking at your cards. Contribution rules differ from seen play under common traditional rules.
- Seen / chaal
- Playing after looking at your cards; read the table’s current-stake rule.
- Pack / fold
- Leave the current deal. This is different from closing or uninstalling the app.
- Show
- An eligible final comparison, usually with two players remaining under the agreed rules.
- Sideshow / compromise
- A private comparison with an eligible player under a table-specific rule.
- Trail / trio / set
- Three cards of one rank, the strongest standard category.
- Pure sequence
- Three consecutive ranks in the same suit.
- Sequence / run
- Three consecutive ranks with mixed suits.
- Colour / flush
- Three cards in one suit that do not form a pure sequence.
- Pair
- Two cards of one rank and a spare card.
- Kicker
- The spare card used after equal pair ranks have been compared.
- High card
- A hand outside the other five standard categories; compare sorted ranks.
- A23-high
- A rule convention placing A-2-3 above A-K-Q within a sequence category.
- AKQ-high
- The alternative convention used here places A-K-Q first and A-2-3 second.
- Muflis
- A low-hand variation; check its exact ace and category rules.
- Wild card / joker
- A card allowed to stand for other cards under a declared variation.
- AK47
- A variation family in which A, K, 4 and 7 can be wild.
App and installation terms
- Virtual chips
- In-game units; inspect whether terms allow purchase, transfer or redemption.
- APK
- An Android package format. The format itself does not establish the publisher.
- Package identifier
- The Android identity string, such as com.teenpatti.hd.gold in the identified Gold listing.
- Version name
- A human-readable release label; it is different from Android’s numeric build ordering.
- Signing certificate
- Part of the identity used by Android to check update continuity.
- SHA-256
- A 256-bit hash used to identify exact file bytes; trust depends on the reference source.
- Private room
- A social table feature. It does not establish publisher identity or legal status.
- Download size
- The bytes transferred for a package; different from installed and future resource storage.
Three terms that are easy to confuse
Sequence in standard Teen Patti can be mixed suit, while a standard rummy sequence uses one suit. A show is a game action, while a screenshot is merely a record of a screen. Download size is a transfer measurement, while installed storage includes extracted and generated files.
Use the rummy comparison and installation walkthrough when the surrounding context changes the meaning.
Use the terms in an example
“I played seen, held a pair of queens with a three kicker, and packed before the final show” describes a rule sequence. It does not describe a server error or account deletion. “I updated the APK, but the signing identity conflicts” describes an installation issue, not a card rule.
If a term on an app screen remains unclear, check the exact publisher’s help. This glossary describes common language and does not override a named variation’s written rules.
